Questions we are most often asked…
Q:
What do I get when I join Mama Bootcamp?
A:
When you join Mama Bootcamp, you receive 12 weeks of unlimited access to Mama Bootcamp classes. Your own personal coach will take your measurements and conduct body fat testing every six weeks. Included in the membership is nutritional counseling, goal setting, as well as mentoring and support from your coach. Q:
Do I have to be a 'mama' to join Mama Bootcamp?
A:
No! Mama Bootcamp is for women of all ages, shapes, fitness levels, and sizes.
Q:
Can men participate in Mama Bootcamp?
A:
Yes! Mama Bootcamp offers some classes where men and women work out together. Check out the calendar for times and locations of co-ed classes.
Q:
Is the Mama Bootcamp experience like military bootcamp? You know, the kind where you crawl through mud with a drill sergeant yelling at you through a bullhorn?!
A:
No! We are a 'bootcamp' in the sense that we are a group that does outdoor workouts together with a coach. Our philosophy replaces the scary reputation of traditional bootcamp with encouragement and camaraderie, while still offering a workout that is challenging for many different levels of fitness.
Q:
How do I join Mama Bootcamp and what does it cost?
A:
Join Mama Bootcamp online or call 916 300 8576 for more information. The Mama Bootcamp program pricing is HERE.
Q:
When can I start?
A:
Start anytime! Classes are ongoing. You will train with a group of like-minded women, but your daily personal training program will be customized just for you. Are you ready to find your mojo?
Q:
Where are your classes located? Are they all outdoors? What happens if it rains?
A:
Our complete list of locations can be found HERE. We hold most of our classes at area parks. Part of our philosophy is to be together outdoors instead of stuck inside a stuffy gym. During rain, we dress in rain gear, and work out under a covered structure. Those who do not wish to do the walking/running portion in the rain can do alternative exercise at the covered structure. In rare cases of severe weather, hot or cold, we may cancel or relocate a class. This is extremely rare, but if in doubt, check our schedule for the latest information.
Most women discover that they enjoy the exhilaration of getting outside and accomplishing their goals despite that rainy day.
Q:
Is childcare available?
A:
Not at this time. If there is sufficient demand in future, we would consider it. We ask that you not bring children to Bootcamp sessions unless it is a family-friendly Mama Bootcamp special event.
Q:
Am I too young? Am I too old?
A:
No way! We welcome and encourage all ages to join us. The Mamas who attend our sessions are a wide mix of ages, from late teens to 70+. Our instructors always provide modifications to the exercises, so women of all abilities can happily work out side-by-side.
Q:
Do I need to be in shape before I start Mama Bootcamp?
A:
Of course not! Mama Bootcamp is here to help you get into the best shape of your life, regardless of how fit you are when you begin. We work at three difference levels; strong, empowered and fierce, and those levels are tailored to beginner, novice and expert bootcampers. This ensures that all of our Mamas get a great workout. When you first start out, we remind you to listen to your body and not overexert yourself. We want you to feel encouraged to keep working out!
Q:
What do I need to bring to Mama Bootcamp? How should I prepare for class?
A:
Please bring an exercise or yoga mat, and plenty of water for hydration. Make sure that you eat a snack or light meal before you come to class – never come on an empty stomach. Wear comfortable exercise-type clothing and supportive shoes (no flip flops or sandals). We recommend wearing sunscreen, as most of our sessions are outdoors.
Q:
What kinds of exercises can I expect to do at Mama Bootcamp?
A:
Bootcamps are 60 or 90 minute workouts. Our format consists of a balanced mix of core work, cardiovascular exercises, and full-body strength training. We use minimal equipment. Any additional equipment is provided by the coach, such as 5 or 8 pound hand weights and exercise bands.
Q:
Am I required to run during Mama Bootcamp? What if I have an injury that prevents me from doing certain exercises?
A:
No, you are never required to do any exercise. Our coaches encourage you to listen to your body, and not do any exercise that causes pain or injury. We have alternative exercise options for everything we do. Our coaches listen, and are there to help you become the healthiest and best you can be.
